The kids class is for ages 8-13 and costs $35 per child. Classes will last 50 minutes and include a variety of skill building games, as well as teaching the kids how to strike properly and a variety of aikido techniques. The goal is for the kids to learn while having a lot of fun, but for safety reasons discipline must be strictly enforced. It is very important that the kids learn how to train together safely while learning about etiquette within the dojo. Children will not only learn how to protect themselves from bullies and larger children, but also how to defend themselves from adults that might mean to do them harm. Classes will occasionally have guest instructors, including members of law enforcement.

A significant part of the curriculum will concern the applicable use of force. Children will be taught to always avoid a confrontation and that the use of violence is always a last resort. However, they will also be taught how to deal with violence without causing great bodily harm to the other person. This is the beauty of Aikido. Having the confidence to deal with an aggressive person without causing a crippling injury is the ultimate goal, and this is what separates us from some other martial arts. There is no ego, no competition, nor is there a need to dominate someone else.
