In the Introductory class, You will begin learning some basic terminology and etiquette. You will have a chance to ask questions and explore whether this is the right practice for you. You will begin learning how to handle forward rolls and backward falls. You will begin to understand the physical requirements for training in Aikido and you will be introduced to some basic techniques. You are welcome to participate in one of these classes at no cost to get a sense of what Aikido training involves. All Beginning students are expected to attend at least ten of these introductory classes before trying another class on the schedule.
You can wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants to the class to get started. We will ask you to sign a waiver and give you a copy of our handbook. Aikido can be a very strenuous martial art, so if you have any physical issues, please let us know about them and please be respectful of our opinion about whether you should be trying this particular martial art. If you have some serious physical ailments, we may advise against Aikido practice.
